The CRC of the MOH will provide technical support in the form of clinical epidemiology expertise, and biostatistical and ICT services.
DRM-ADCM is managed by few groups of people:-

Governance Board:
The MOH, universities, professional bodies, NGOs and private healthcare providers will be present on this committee to ensure that the DRM stays focused on policy and meets the needs and expectations of all interested parties |

Steering Committee:
Investigators from the source data providers of the registry will group this committee. It is established to ensure the register is run according to its stated aims, objectives and protocols of the DRM-ADCM, ensure the rights of patients are respected, oversee the progress of the project and oversee the use of register data |
Purpose of the DRM-ADCM
The objectives of the DRM-ADCM are to:

Determine the demographic & epidemiological characteristics of diabetes patients attending MOH healthcare facilities. |

Determine their clinical profile. |
|
|
Determine their prevalence of diabetes-related complications and related epidemiological characteristics. |
|
|
Determine their treatment outcomes. |
|
|
Facilitate service improvements by providing robust nationally comparable data on care, for outcome assessment & quality assurance. |
|
|
Stimulate & facilitate diabetes research activities. |
Sources of diabetes disease data in Malaysia
The DRM-ADCM receives data on diabetes disease from main source of:

Hospitals and health clinics in Malaysia beginning with in the government sector and later on extending it to those beyond (private and armed forces) for data on diabetes mellitus in the country. |

What about confidentiality?
Current legislation allows doctors to release their patients’ data to persons demonstrating a need, which is essential to public health and safety. The DRM meets this requirement. The DRM has also developed strict policies and procedures to maintain confidentiality in disclosure of data.
